Some jobs mean more than others. Getting to care for the grounds at Holy Name Church in Cedar Lake is one of those. This is a place where families come to remember the people they love, and the condition of that space matters - a lot.
We came in to top dress and seed the bare and thinning spots throughout the cemetery. The goal was simple: bring the turf back to a consistent, healthy stand of grass so the grounds look the way they should - clean, cared for, and respectful of the people resting there.
Top dressing works by adding a thin layer of quality material over the existing soil, smoothing out low spots and giving fresh seed the best possible environment to germinate and take hold. It's a straightforward process, but the results make a real difference - especially in high-visibility areas where appearance carries so much weight.
We take this kind of work seriously. Church grounds, cemeteries, and memorial spaces deserve the same level of attention and care as any other property - honestly, probably more. Families visiting their loved ones shouldn't have to look past patchy, uneven turf. They should be able to focus on what brought them there.
We're grateful Holy Name Church trusted us with this. It's the kind of work that reminds us why we do what we do.
